I remember trying to learn on my own, looking at things on the internet, and even learning from local guitar teachers. I felt frustrated, overwhelmed and lost. I have also seen many of my students go through the same things! Although it doesn't have to be this way.
The Reasons You're Stuck In A Rut
I have had many students seek help in their guitar playing after doing one or more of the following:

Learning online through websites like YouTube.

Learning from a local guitar teacher.

Being self taught.
The reasons why none of the above methods work is because there is no feedback, Q&A, or checking for understanding. All you get is the information. The problem here is that getting information at the wrong time, and in some cases wrong information, is just plain wrong and will lead you to develop bad habits.
When learning from other local guitar teachers, you will get some Q&A and feedback, but the checking for understanding doesn’t happen until a week, or more, later. That means you get tons of wasted time practicing wrong! You'll also get frustrated because you could have forgotten what the teacher said or you misunderstood the lesson. Then, after that long week all the student will hear is “Oh you are playing that wrong” AFTER A WHOLE WEEK!!! This happens because other local guitar teachers have never been trained how to teach guitar to their students.
